SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) released its weekly honors and Yellowjacket freshman Igor Guetten Chaves (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) has been named the UMAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the North Division, it was announced Monday.
 
For Guetten Chaves, it is the fourth time he has received the weekly honor from the conference. He was also named the UMAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Feb. 13, Feb. 20 and Feb. 27.
 
Last week, Guetten Chaves earned two more wins in the No. 1 singles slot. Monday against UW-Eau Claire, Guetten Chaves defeated the Blugolds' Demetri Bush, but needed three sets to do it. After dropping the first set 2-6, Guetten Chaves came back to take the second set 6-3 and the third set 6-2. Then in a thrilling match Thursday at home against Northwestern, Guetten Chaves had little trouble with the Eagles' Stewart Morrell, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

For the year, Guetten Chaves is 12-3 in singles play, all at No. 1 singles. With three different partners in doubles action, he has a record of 10-6.
 
The Yellowjackets will travel across the bridge Tuesday to take on St. Scholastica. The first serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Longview Tennis Club.
