MENOMONIE, Wis. – After a successful start to the 2024 portion of the indoor season, a pair of Yellowjackets took to the road to compete in the Warren Bowlus Invite, hosted by UW-Stout. The Bowlus is a two-day event, with the first day dedicated to athletes competing in the multis.
 
Veteran competitors in the multis, the Yellowjackets had Garrett Lynch (Portage, Wis./Portage) and Earl Foster (Forest Lake, Minn./Spectrum) in Menomonie Friday. Both competitors got off to slow starts, but at the end of the day's competition, both sat in the top ten.
 
At the end of day one, Lynch sat sixth, while Foster is ranked eighth. Lynch is 430 points off the lead, while Foster is 758 points back.
 
Meet Notes

• Opening day events were the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump.
• The first two events were tough for both Lynch and Foster, as they placed fifth and ninth, respectively in the 60-meter dash and long jump.
• Lynch placed seventh in the shot put with a heave of 11.70 meters, while Foster was ninth with a mark of 10.85 meters. Lynch and Foster both earned personal records in the event.
• Both Lynch and Foster finished with a flourish, earning their highest finishes of the day in the final event, the high jump. Lynch placed third, clearing the bar at a height of 1.78 meters. Foster placed eighth with a mark of 1.63 meters.
• At the end of the first day, Lynch is only 200 points back of his school-record performance, which was set last year at Ripon.
• Day two events were 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run. 

Both Lynch and Foster will compete in the second day of the event, concentrating on the multis, while the rest of the Yellowjacket men's and women's track and field teams will join them for the full meet. Events will get underway at 11:30 a.m. at UW-Stout's Sports and Fitness Center.
