ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team took a quick detour from Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play and traveled to Macalester for a Wednesday night non-conference match up. Under the lights at Macalester Stadium, the Scots found the back of the net first with two first half goals. The 'Jackets late second half goal was not enough to recover, falling 2-1.
After tonight's loss, the Yellowjackets are 7-6-0 overall and 5-1-0 in UMAC play.
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior) would strike late in the second half to break the shutout for Macalester.

Quinn Clark (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) got the start and finished with two saves. Clark is now 4-3-0 in net. Clark faced nine attempted shots.

- In the 17th minute of play, Macalester struck first when Abbey Birkey fired a low left shot past the goalkeeper, Clark. Erica Hamilton was credited with the assist.
- In the 34th minute, Avery Ellis doubled the lead for Macalester with a low shot to the right corner, assisted by a well-placed pass from Julia Hanson.
- Wilson, with just three minutes left on the clock, would net the lone goal for the Yellowjackets. Erika Schneider (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West), from the right side of the field would boot the ball off the crossbar where Wilson picked up the rebound with a header to lessen the gap, 2-1.
- Macalester held the edge in fouls, committing only five compared to the Yellowjackets' seven.
- Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) and Wilson led the Yellowjackets with two shots on goal, while teammates Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo), Brynne Crystal (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata), Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield), and Tori Vosburg (Cloquet, Minn./Esko) were each credited with one.
- The Yellowjacket attempted eight shots on the Macalester goalkeeper.
The Yellowjackets return to UMAC play on Saturday, Oct. 12 taking on Minnesota Morris. The game will mark the grand opening of the Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium on the UW-Superior campus, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
