DULUTH, Min. – The Yellowjackets men's tennis would face UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) Saturday afternoon for more more commerce play at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center. The 'Jackets would secure a 8-1 win over UW-Stevens Point to advance to their record to 6-3.
Match Notes
- The closest match was at No. 1 doubles was Yellowjacket Igor Guetten Chaves (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) and Ren Kurachi (Yokohama, Japan/Yokosuka Gakuin) Vs. Steven Benoy and Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angels) of UWSP. The match resulted in an 8-5 win for Guetten Chaves and Kurachi.
- In more doubles action, Davide Pelleti paired with Sharan Kanugovi (Bangalore, Karnataka/New Baldwin International School) to take the No. 2 match 8-0 over Connor Kryscio and Luca Hettstedt.
- In No. 1 singles action, Kurachi would take the first set 7-5 and earned the victory against Pointers' counterpart Benoy.
- Guetten Chaves defeated Diehl at No. 2 singles, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
- Lucca Paladini (Blumenu, Brazil/Colegio Saber) would fall 1-6 early on, but rallied in the second set 6-2 to force a tiebreaker before securing a 10-8 victory.
- Paladini and Jacob Zacharias (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) each picked up wins against their respective UWSP counterparts.
The Yellowjackets will return to action Sunday, Feb. 18 back at the Duluth Indoor Sports Cener with a 1 p.m. start time.
