WINTER PARK, Fla./Altamonte Springs, Fla. – The Yellowjacket men's tennis team closed out its Florida trip Friday, playing a pair of exhibition matches against upper division opponents. The day started at NCAA Division II Rollins College, then concluded with a match against NCAA Division I Morgan State.

The Yellowjackets put up a strong effort, but in the end, they fell in both matches, losing 6-1 to Rollins and 7-0 to Morgan State.

Match One Notes
- Against the NCAA Division II opponent, all three doubles matches counted as one point, making the match total seven points instead of the usual nine points.
- The lone win for the Yellowjackets came at No. 1 singles, when Ren Kurachi (Yokohama, Japan/Yokosuka Gakuin) got the win after his opponent retired.
- All six singles matches ended in straight sets.
Match Two Notes
- Against the NCAA Division I opponent, all three doubles matches counted as one point, making the match total seven points instead of the usual nine points.
- Jacob Zacharias (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) and Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) were in a barnburner at No. 3 doubles, taking it to a tiebreaker before falling 7-6. Morgan State's duo of Anthony Parris and Antonio Santos won the tiebreaker 7-1.
- At No. 2 doubles, Sharan Kanugovi (Bangalore, Karnataka/New Baldwin International School) and Davide Pelletti (Prado, Brazil) lost one break point too many, falling 6-4.
- Abarca Pino dropped his first set at No. 5 singles, losing 1-6 before rallying to take the second set 6-2 and tie the match. Morgan State's Santos bounced back to take the third set 6-2 and win the match.
- Cullen Brown (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) had a strong showing at No. 6 singles, sending the 6-6 opening set to a tiebreak, which Morgan State won 7-3 to take the first set 7-6. Brown lost the second set 6-3.
The Yellowjackets are now off until Saturday, April 13, when they enter Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play at the University of Northwestern. The opening serve is set for 11 a.m. at William Zane Johnson Tennis Complex.
