ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Yellowjacket men's track and field team entered the Augustana Midwest Twilight after competing in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Championships and the Eagle Open over the last two weeks.
Wednesday saw seniors
Nate Ohman (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) and
Earl Foster (Forest Lake, Minn./Spectrum) compete in the hammer and javelin throws, respectively, before the remaining Yellowjackets compete on day two.
Ohman, who has compiled numerous impressive showings in events across both the indoor and outdoor seasons, finished the hammer throw with a heave of 52.30 meters, just 0.31 meters shy of his personal record set at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational nearly a month ago. This mark places him 17th in the field, with Chris Baker of Coe College leading the pack with a mark of 58.80 meters.
Foster competed in the javelin throw, and he finished the event sitting in 12th place with a toss of 48.13 meters. This heave boosts his previous toss at the Eagle Open by nearly a full meter-and-a-half. Braydin Preston from the University of Dubuque sits atop the field of 27 competitors.
Day two of the Augustana Twilight is slated for Thursday at 11 a.m., taking place at the Knowlton Outdoor Sports Complex. Other Yellowjackets seeing action include
Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona),
David Collins (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright), and
Ben Babcock (Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth Area).
