Match Notes
- The Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) Vikings struck first, taking the lead in the ninth minute of the match. In a well-executed play, they pierced the Yellowjacket defense at the center of the 18-yard box, delivering a precise chip shot over goalkeeper Lough that nestled into the top right corner of the net, giving BLC an early 1-0 advantage.
- With just 15 minutes remaining in the first half, Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior) brought the Yellowjackets level with a header. The play began on the right half of the field, where Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) delivered a cross to the center of the box. Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) met the ball mid-air, positioned the ball and found Wilson on the left side of the box. Wilson directed her header past the Bethany Lutheran goalkeeper.
- Less than 10 minutes into the second half, the Vikings would find the back of the net to take the lead back, 2-1. Reiley Ping, from just inside the 18-yard box, would fire one past Lough to the left side of the net.
- Late in the second half, Lindrey Schendel (Longmount, Colo./Skyline) launched a long ball from midfield, perfectly picking out Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) at the top of the 18-yard box. With the Bethany Lutheran goalkeeper charging out, Holmquist chipped the ball over her just moments before the two collided and the ball rolled into the net.
- Just minutes later, BLC would rocket one past Lough just under the center of the crossbar to take the lead back 3-2.
- The Vikings would be credited with the only two yellow cards that were handed out in the match. The Yellowjackets would be credited with six fouls to Bethany's two.
- The Vikings would snap the eight-game losing streak against the Yellowjackets that started in Oct. of 2019.
- UWS attempted three shots on goalkeeper Arayah Baker. Baker was credited with zero saves.
