Yellowjacket Women Compete at Twin Ports Open

SUPERIOR, Wis. – True, the Yellowjacket women's track and field team did compete in an event in December, but usually, the first meet at UW-Superior, the Twin Ports Open, signals the start to the indoor season.

That meet came on Saturday, as teams descended on the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse in the Marcovich Wellness Center.

The Yellowjackets had a number of strong performances on the day, led by Summer Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls), who won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.01 seconds. The time established a new personal record for Hesseldahl.

Another first-place finish came courtesy of Bel Dimaze (Monticello, Minn./Spectrum), who won the high jump with a mark of 1.51 meters. She narrowly bested another Yellowjacket freshman, Riley Toivonen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids), who placed second with a mark of 1.26 meters.
