SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Following last week's performances, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) unveiled its weekly award recipients Tuesday morning.
Dylan Uitto (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and
Simone Stephens (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro) swept the league's cross country awards while
Savanna Hering (Superior, Wis./Superior) was named defensive athlete of the week in volleyball.
Uitto established a new personal record in the 8k this Saturday, seeing action at the Augustana Interregional Invitational. He led Superior with a time of 26:35.5, placing 30th in a field of some of the region's best runners.
Stephens once again led the Yellowjackets this past weekend at the Augustana Interregional Invitational. She placed 57th on the individual leaderboard while posting a race time of 24:42.8.
Hering continued her strong season this weekend, taking on Crown and Minnesota Morris on the road. She added 19 digs against the polars in a 3-1 win before racking up 27 in a five-set reverse sweep of the Cougars. Hering now holds 418 digs on the campaign, a mark that leads both Superior and the UMAC.
The Yellowjacket cross country teams are preparing for the UMAC Championship race, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1 at Winthrop Golf Course.
The Yellowjacket volleyball team is in action Tuesday, traveling across the bridge to face St. Scholastica. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Burns Wellness Commons.
