SUPERIOR, Wis. - The last time UW-Superior and Northwestern met inside Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium, the Yellowjackets took down the Eagles. The 'Jackets looked to do the same thing a year later, but this time the Eagles got the upper hand taking the match by a score of 3-1.  

Match Notes:  

• In the first set, the 'Jackets took control, gaining a 12-7 lead early behind efforts from Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) and Sydney Smith (Milltown, Wis./Unity). The Yellowjackets were able to get the lead to as many as ten, ultimately taking the set 25-17. 

• In the second, the Eagles and 'Jackets battled trading points back and forth, but the Eagles were able to take the set 25-23.  

• The third set was a similar story to the third set as both teams traded points, but Northwestern was able to grab a little momentum in the ladder half of the set, winning it by a score of 25-22.  

• In the fourth set the 'Jackets were never able to get anything going as Northwestern took a commanding set lead and did not look back winning 25-13.  

• Offensively the 'Jackets were paced by Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford), who had 18 kills, Bader added 11 while Marena Saeger (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) had six.  

• Defensively Savanna Hering (Superior, Wis./Superior) and Hohbein had 16 digs each.  

The Yellowjackets return to the court on Friday as they host Minnesota Morris. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.
