WINTHROP, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's cross country team took action at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championship Saturday, taking place at the Winthrop Golf Course in Winthrop, Minn. In the last few weeks of the campaign the Yellowjackets have been battling nagging injuries but still fared well, placing fourth overall on championship day with a collective 115.
 
Race Notes

• Pacing the 'Jackets was Lilley Smith (Ironwood, Mich./Ironwood), finishing 18th overall with a 25:33.3.
• The second Yellowjacket finisher was Amelia Olson (Sturgeon Lake, Minn./Moose Lake), coming in 22nd overall with a 26:13.8. This time now serves as a personal record for Olson.
• Lillianna Jones (Portage, Wis./Portage) also established a new PR on the day, finishing in 26:34.7, nearly a full three minutes better than her previous race time.
• Coming in fourth for the 'Jackets and 29th overall was Aubrey Peterson (Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville), claiming a 26:56.7.
• Kayela Putnam (Stephenson, Mich./Stephenson) and Scarlett Vanderscheuren (Saginaw, Minn./South Ridge) finished with times of 26:58.7 and 27:30.8, respectively. Putnam collected a new high-water mark on the afternoon.
• Abby Congleton (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) rounded out Superior, finishing at 28:06.6, over three minutes faster than her previous 6k race time.

 
The 'Jackets are back in action Saturday, Nov. 15 as they partake in the NCAA North Regional. Hosted by UW-Eau Claire, action is set for 1 p.m. at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis.
