JANESVILLE, Wis. - Men's hockey hit the road on a Friday night hoping to snap a two-game skid against WIAC newcomer Beloit. This game would become the first time these two programs have ever faced off as the Buccaneers embarked on their first season this year. Superior was able to take the first matchup between these two squads 3-1.  

Game Notes: 

• UWS struck first in the game as AJ Reed (Milwaukee, Wis./Menomonee Falls) found the back of the net off a pass from Andrew Larson (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) in the first period.  

• The 'Jackets doubled their lead in the second period on the power play as Tyler Ryder (Byron Center, Mich./Northstar Christian Academy) found the net first goal of the season. Chris Ishmael (Oakville, Ontario/Abbey Park Secondary School) and Justin Dauphinais (Val Caron, Ontario/École Secondaire Catholique Horizon) were credited with assists on the goal.  

• Beloit cut the deficit in half in the third period, but Kade Shea (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) put the game away as he scored to seal the victory.  

• Jack Boschert (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) took the win in net for UWS going all the way while making 18 saves.  

• Matt Danziger (Potomac, Md./University of Nebraska High) and Blake Setter (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial) led the way for the 'Jackets in shots with them taking seven and six respectively.  

The second game of the weekend series with Beloit is tomorrow night. Opening faceoff between the Yellowjackets and Buccaneers is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Woodman's Center.
