SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's track and field team was back home Saturday, hosting its second meet of the indoor season. This meet, the Maday Classic, always carries a little more weight, as it's named in memory of the beloved former Yellowjacket student-athlete and coach.

It was a good day for the Yellowjackets Saturday, as they piled up 14 personal records and three season bests at the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse.

Summer Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls) led the charge for the Yellowjackets, earning a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, coming in with a time of 10.04 seconds. That result came on the heels of a fifth-place finish in the event preliminary.

The Yellowjackets also made some noise in the distance races.

In the mile,
Taylor DeCook (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) placed fourth with a time of 5:50.33, establishing a new season best.
Kayela Putnam (Stephenson, Mich./Stephenson) was right behind DeCook, finishing fifth with a time of 6:01.28, which was a personal record.

Several Yellowjackets set personal records in the 5,000 meters.
Cora Hudella (North Branch, Minn./North Branch) came in with a time of 19:14.76, finishing seventh.
Tea Boerner (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) was eighth with a time of 19:17.94.

Meet Notes
- Lilley Smith (Ironwood, Mich./Ironwood) and Kenzy Kreuzer (Stoddard, Wis./De Soto) also earned personal records in the 5,000 meters, finishing with times of 20:51.85 and 23:37.53, respectively.
- Melissa Hoff (Holmen, Wis./Holmen) and Lillianna Jones (Portage, Wis./Portage) each set a personal record in the 400 meters, finishing with times of 1:08.20 and 1:11.37, respectively.
- Halle Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior) clocked a time of 2:34.27 in the 800 meters, placing seventh.
- The 4-x-400-meter relay team finished fourth Saturday, clocking a time of 1:58.32. The team consisted of Hesseldahl, Hoff, Jones and Cora Schmitz (Luck, Wis./Unity).
- The Yellowjackets had three consecutive finishers in the shot put – Kory Windish (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) (9.79 meters), Isabel Miller (Medford, Minn./Medford) (9.66 meters) and Sydney Cox (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) (9.48 meters). Miller and Cox set personal records.
- Catie McPherson (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) was fifth in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.39 meters, setting a new season best.
- Hannah Hutton (Spooner, Wis./Spooner) and Putnam finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault.
- Hesseldahl and Grace Nonnemacher (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) tied for seventh in the long jump, hitting a mark of 4.79 meters.
- Myla Volk (Wabeno, Wis./Wabeno) was fourth in the triple jump with a personal record mark of 10.42 meters.
- In addition to the Yellowjackets, Minnesota Duluth, St. Scholastica, UW-River Falls and Northwestern also competed Saturday.
The Yellowjackets are back in action Saturday, Feb. 22 when they will compete at the Gene Glader Classic, hosted by Bethel. The events will take place at the Bethel Sports and Recreation Center in St. Paul.
