Yellowjacket Men Fall to Augustana Saturday

DE PERE, Wis. - Saturday the Yellowjacket men's tennis team was back in action, facing off against the Vikings of Augustana College. Unfortunately for the 'Jackets, the Vikings handled things on their end of the court, coming away with a 6-1 victory.

Match Notes:
  • Doubles saw action from Yash Chhabra (Jaipur, Rajasthan/Sanskar School) and Sharan Kanugovi (Bangalore, Karnataka/New Baldwin International School) in the top spot. They took the 6-1 loss from Arthur Hermange and David Larraga. Igor Guetten Chaves (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) and Vitor Sakakibara (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Saber) were handed a similar fate, losing to Tim Philip and Saman Rezaeyan 7-5 in the second spot.
  • No. 3 doubles ended in similar fashion to the top spot with Brandon Chu (Rogers, Minn./Rogers) and Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) losing to Gustavo Hessel Fontenelle and Grant Meyers 6-1.
  • Guetten Chaves suffered a 6-2 loss to Hermange at No. 1 singles. 
  • Kanugovi was the only victor of the day for the Yellowjackets. After falling 4-6, he rallied to win 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-4) over Larraga in the No. 2 singles slot.
  • Chhabra lost against Rezaeyan 6-2 in the third position, while Abarca Pino lost in similar fashion against Philip at 6-2.
  • Sakakibara was served a 6-1 loss against Kay Woldringh at No. 5 singles, while Chu took a 6-2 loss against Meyers at the sixth position.

The Yellowjackets will continue play on Sunday facing off against St. Norbert College to cap the weekend. The first match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
