SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Yellowjacket baseball team had a quick turnaround after their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) series with Minnesota Morris ended Saturday, as they hit the road once again to face Macalester College from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Monday afternoon. The game between the Scots and Yellowjackets was supposed to be played last Monday, but inclement weather forced both teams to postpone a week.
Â
UWS and MAC took advantage of the warm weather and employed strong offensive attacks, as both teams combined for 26 hits in the contest. Despite falling 6-2 in the early innings the Yellowjackets came back and evened the scoring in the top of the seventh, scoring four to even the game at 8-8.
Â
Macalester took advantage of Yellowjacket miscues both from a pitching and defense standpoint, scoring two in their half of the eighth to lead 10-8. Superior had a first and third situation with two outs in the top of the ninth, but the Scots got out of the jam and won 10-8.

Game Notes
- A leadoff double off the bat of Chase Oxborough (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) got the 'Jackets going. Tanner Voight (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) clubbed a double to left center field to plate Oxborough, and an RBI single up the middle from Payton Steiner (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) capped the scoring in Superior's opening frame.
- The Scots logged a one-out triple to right field to spark their offense, and an RBI single would cut the early deficit in half.
- Macalester put up five runs off five hits in the bottom of the third, which prompted Riley Harbaugh (Banks, Ore./Banks) to enter the game with one out. He was able to draw a swinging strikeout and an infield single but kept the Scots from extending their lead at 6-2.
- UWS saw an RBI double from Brian O'Dwyer (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and an RBI single off the bat of Wylee Arro (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown), cutting down MAC's lead to just 6-4.
- After the Scots logged a two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth, the 'Jackets showed signs of live in their half of the seventh. Voight singled through the left side and was plated by a double by Steiner.
- In his first game back from injury, Jordan Trimble (Victorville, Calif./Grandview (Colo.)) lined a single up the middle to score Steiner, and he was later brought in after O'Dwyer clubbed a two-bagger to left center.
- After a pitching change, Superior tied it up with a pinch-hit sacrifice fly from Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville) at 8-8.
- With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Macalester utilized a hit-batsman and a Yellowjacket throwing error to set up a pair of RBI hits. Regardless of Superior's first and third situation in the top of the ninth, it wouldn't be enough as the Scots emerged victorious at 10-8.
- Steiner and Voight each had three hits on the afternoon, while O'Dwyer had two.
- Zach Romans (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael) started on the mound and allowed three hits off one run in two innings of work. Harbaugh would see 2.2 innings of work on the hill, allowing just three hits while striking out three.
- Christian Pretasky (Meadowlands, Minn./South Ridge) (1.1 innings) and Kevin Rahe (Princeton, Minn./Princeton) (1.2) rounded out the pitching efforts for UWS. Rahe was tabbed with the loss, his first one of the campaign.
