SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team commenced regular season action, playing host to Gustavus Adolphus to kick off the 2025 season. The match served as firsts for both coaches, as Yellowjacket head coach
Nick Piazza and Gusties head coach Lauren Johnson began their head coaching careers Friday.
The Gusties utilized three goals in the first half and added another in the second to earn a 4-0 victory at Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium.
Match Notes
- Haillee Wilson received a feed from Cambelle Waldspurger and sent one past Yellowjacket keeper Quinn Clark (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) at the 18th minute of play.
- Wilson later buried another, this time with the help of Amara Easley at the 36th minute to lead 2-0. Shortly after that, Waldspurger buried the Gusties' third goal of the match and maintained control throughout the rest of the match.
- In the 64th minute Easley got on the scoresheet with a goal of her own, adding some insurance and serving as the final goal of the match.
- GAC goalkeeper Katelyn Olson made nine saves on the evening, while Clark made seven saves.
- Offensively Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) paced with six total shots. Brynne Crystal (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) and Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) each added two shots of their own.
Superior hits the road Tuesday to face UW-La Crosse. The opening kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.
