SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team were predicted to capture its fifth-straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship, as the league announced its preseason poll results Monday.
UWS secured five-of-seven first place votes and 36 total points in the poll of conference coaches. Grabbing the final two votes were Bethany Lutheran and Northwestern, each grabbing 29 points in a tie of second place.
Superior returns an experienced trio back to the pitch in 2025, including seniors
Quinn Clark (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East),
Meagan Bergerson (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors), and
Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld).
Clark capped the 2024 campaign with a pair of postseason awards (All-UMAC Second Team; United Soccer Coaches All-Region IX Second Team) while seeing 1,190 minutes in net. Bergerson collected her first conference postseason accolade last season, earning an All-UMAC First Team distinction while playing a pivotal role in Superior allowing just 1.05 goals per match. Hill returns for her senior season after being named the UMAC Tournament MVP last year, scoring a pair of goals in the championship match to lead UWS to its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
Crown, Martin Luther and Minnesota Morris each finished in a three-way tie of fourth place with 16 points apiece before North Central rounded out the poll with six points.
The Yellowjackets begin the regular season Friday, playing host to Gustavus Adolphus. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium.
