KANSASVILLE, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's golf team has been on a roll this season, consistently lowering their best round as a team while putting together some quality individual rounds. Their season continued Friday with day one of the Midwest Region Classic hosted by Benedictine.
In a field of 39 teams filled from across the region, the Yellowjackets ended day one with a collective 336, sitting in 16th place.
Tournament Notes
- Olivia Weyenberg (Stacy, Minn./North Branch) spearheaded the team with a seven-over 79, adding two birdies to her scorecard for a spot in 19th individually. Closely behind her was Abby Schintz (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) with an 82.
- Makayla Ammerman (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson) secured a 42/44 split for a collective 86, while Ashton Parnell (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) ended her day with an 89.
- Sophia Otto (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) rounded out the main five Yellowjackets with a first round score of 92.
- Allie Maschke (Merrill, Wis./Merrill), Karin Hill (Duluth, Minn/Denfeld), and Maya Siddiqui (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) all competed as individuals. Maschke logged a 48 on the front nine before shaving five stokes to finish with a 91.
- Hill and Siddiqui rounded out Superior with a 100 and 113, respectively.
The Yellowjackets are back in action Saturday for round two of the Midwest Region Classic, with action continuing at Brighton Dale Links.
