Box Score 2 RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Saturday the Yellowjacket women's tennis team took part in a triangular match, facing St. Catherine and the host-Falcons of UW-River Falls. In the opener it came down to the wire, but Superior claimed a 4-3 win over the Wildcats before securing a 5-2 win over the Falcons at the Ramer Tennis Courts.
Match One Notes
- The 'Jackets fell at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, as Anouk Bluemm (Nuremberg, Germany/Wilhelm-Loege Gymnasium) and Claudia Curtis (Hartland, Wis./Lake Mills) dropped a 6-3 decision to their Wildcat counterparts.
- Elif Oezen (Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, Germany/Einstein Gymnasium) and Daylyn Drew (Negaunee, Mich./Negaunee) took on Marie Pelletier and Ryanna Steinhaus, falling 6-4 in the second position.
- Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Addison Fee (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) were victorious over the Wildcats in the third slot, collecting a 6-4 win.
- Bluemm won 6-1, 6-4 against Faith Simon at No. 1 singles, while Oezen grasped a 6-0, 6-3 win in the second position.
- Curtis won the opener 6-3 before dropping the second 6-1. She rallied to earn a 10-5 win in the tiebreaker against Pelletier at No. 3 singles.
- Addison Fee (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) picked up a tiebreaker win at No. 6 singles. After falling 6-2 she rallied to a 6-0 win before collecting a 10-8 victory.
Match Two Notes
- Against the host Falcons, the Yellowjackets dropped the doubles point after falling 6-3 and 7-6 (7-4) at Nos. 1-2 doubles. Fee and Jonas once again rolled to a win at No. 3 doubles, defeating Avery Watzke and Audrey Ladewig 6-4.
- Superior claimed victories at Nos. 1-5 singles, beginning with a 7-5, 6-2 win from Bluemm. Oezen took care of business against Brooke Lindeman 7-5, 6-3.
- Curtis won in similar fashion to Oezen, defeating Sarah Baker 7-5, 6-2 before Jonas won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
- Drew won the first game 6-3 before Hailey Reuvers won 6-1 in the second. Drew came back and claimed a 6-4 win for a win at No. 5 singles.
The Yellowjacket women play host to Macalester on Saturday, Oct. 11. The opening serve is set for 12 p.m. at the Yellowjacket Outdoor Tennis Complex.
