Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Georgia Youngblood, Yellowjacket Athletics

'Jackets Roll Past Crown 74-47

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Yellowjacket women's basketball team bounced back from Saturday's loss with Minnesota Morris with a 74-47 victory over the Polars from Crown College Wednesday.

Game Notes 

  • Elsa Olson (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) got the Yellowjackets going with a layup in the first ten seconds of the first quarter.  

  • The Yellowjackets and the Polars were neck and neck through the first quarter with Superior leading by three points at the end of the first.  
  • The Polars took the lead in the middle of the first, but back-to-back three pointers from Hope Carlson (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) tied it up again at 12-12.

  • Superior regained the lead thanks to a three-pointer from MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) with five seconds to spare in the opening quarter.  

  • The Jackets' had a strong second quarter, scoring sixteen points and held the Polars to just five.  

  • Maddie Reott (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) led the team in the second quarter with five points. 

  • Leccia drained a three-pointer in the third, which pushed the Yellowjackets to a 22-point lead at 53-31.  

  • Hope Carlson (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) was Superior's lead scorer with 12 points, followed by Reott's 10 and Leccia's nine.  

  • Reott led with eight rebounds, while Charlotte Ferstl (Plain, Wis./River Valley) and Leccia each had seven.
     

The Yellowjackets (7-12, 4-2 UMAC) will be back home Saturday hosting North Central. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. inside Mertz Mortorelli Gym.
