DULUTH, Minn. – After a four-month offseason, the Yellowjacket men's tennis team resumed action against Concordia College Saturday. The 'Jackets, in their first match of the weekend, fell to the Cobbers 5-2.
Match Notes
- Igor Guetten Chaves (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) and Vitor Sakakibara (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Saber) dropped a 6-4 decision to Isaac Maddock and Ryoga Yano at the top spot.
- Yash Chhabra (Jaipur, Rajasthan/Sanskar School) and Adam Culp (Metamora, Ill./Metamora Township) battled with their Cobber counterparts but fell 7-6.
- The lone doubles win came at the third position, as Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) and Keanu Lin (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) defeated Niklas Cook and Kai Pierce 6-1.
- Both Sakakibara and Guetten Chaves were victorious in their singles bouts, taking down Kai Kringlie and Yano at the Nos. 5 and 1 positions, respectively.
The Yellowjackets return to the court Sunday as they face Lawrence and UW-Eau Claire. The opening serve against the Vikings is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. inside the John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center in Eau Claire, Wis.
