EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - After beginning the spring portion of their schedule yesterday, the Yellowjacket men's tennis team was back in action for a doubleheader against Lawrence and UW-Eau Claire. In today's action the 'Jackets were able to sweep Lawrence in their fisrt match while dropping the second to the Blugolds 5-2.  

Match 1 Notes: 

• The Yellowjackets took every doubles matchup with the pairing of Yash Chhabra (Jaipur, Rajasthan/Sanskar School) and Adam Culp (Metamora, Ill./Metamora Township) winning 6-3. Keanu Lin (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) and Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) took their match 6-2 while Blake Haugen (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont) and Marcos Labella Parilla won 6-3.  

• In the No. 1 singles match Sharan Kanugovi (Bangalore, Karnataka/New Baldwin International School) beat his competition in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. In the No. 2 singles, Chhabra beat Gabriel Garcia 6-1, 6-0. 

• Vitor Sakakibara (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Saber) beat his Viking counterpart 6-1 in each match while Culp beat his opponent 6-3, 6-0. 

• In the No. 5 singles Haugen took his matches 6-3, 6-4. In the No. 6 singles, Marcos Labella Parrilla took his matchup in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 10-4.  

Match 2 Notes:  

• The Blugolds earned the doubles point by winning two of the three matchups. The lone doubles winners for the 'Jackets were the team of Kanugovi and Chhabra taking their match 7-6.  

• In the No. 1 singles Igor Guetten Chaves fell in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 9-11. 

• Kanugovi took his match in the No. 2 singles 6-2 in both sets while Chhabra lost his individual match 6-2, 2-6, 8-10.  

• Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) took his singles match in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 10-6.  

• In the last two singles matches were dropped by Superior's Sakikibara 3-6, 2-6 while Lin fell 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.  

The Yellowjackets return to the court on Friday when they host Bethel. Opening serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
