MORRIS, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's basketball team opened the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament Wednesday, playing in the semifinal game hosted by Minnesota Morris.

The Yellowjackets held a good rhythm in the first half, shooting 41.2 percent from the field in the opening quarter (7-17) before logging a 50.0 percentage in the second (9-18) to lead 36-27 at half. UWS would continue its balanced attack in the second half, displaying a pair of double-digit runs on their way to a 68-59 win.

Game Notes
- MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) and Charlotte Ferstl (Plain, Wis./River Valley) began the Superior scoring before the Cougars began to sink their shots. Following a back-and-forth opening frame, the Cougars jumped ahead 17-15 after a three pointer from Grace Perry to end the opening frame.
- Courtesy of a 10-point run in the second quarter with points inside the paint, the 'Jackets scored 21 off efforts from Kylee Hewitt (Hurley, Wis./), Abby Johnson (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) and Maddie Reott (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton).
- Late in the third the 'Jackets boasted a 16-point run, holding the Cougars to just 11 points in the third. Offensively the 'Jackets scored five points off turnovers and added 14 points inside the paint.
- Minnesota Morris scored a game-high 21 points in the fourth, but it was too late as the Yellowjackets claimed a 68-59 win inside James Gremmels Court.
- Reott led offensively with 20 points, adding four assists and nine rebounds.
- Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed nine boards in just 26 minutes.
- Ferstl grabbed eight rebounds on the evening.

The Yellowjackets have advanced to the UMAC Championship game. They will take on the winner of the top-seeded Vikings of Bethany Lutheran and the No. 4 Rams of North Central on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
