MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Yellowjacket men's tennis team was in action in the semifinals of the UMAC tournament as they faced The W. The Yellowjackets were able to hand The W a loss as they took care of the Owls 4-2.
Match Notes:
- The Yellowjackets took the doubles point winning in both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Sharan Kanugovi (Bangalore, Karnataka/New Baldwin International School) and Yash Chhabra (Jaipur, Rajasthan/Sanskar School) needed won their match 7-6 (7-5) while the duo of Keanu Lin (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) and Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) won 6-1 in the No. 3 slot.
- Igor Guetten Chaves (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) won his No. 1 singles match in three sets by scores of 7-5, 4-6, 6-2. Kanugovi would have to withdraw from his match due to injury.
- Abarca Pino won his singles match in straight sets defeating his opponent 6-3 and 7-5. Vitor Sakakibara (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Saber) lost his singles match 1-6, 3-6.
- Adam Culp (Metamora, Ill./Metamora Township) secured the Yellowjacket victory winning in the No. 6 singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2.
The Yellowjackets now set their sights towards tomorrow as they take on Greenville. The championship match is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center.
