INDIANAPOLIS – This past Saturday, the Yellowjacket women's tennis team defeated Greenville 4-1 to claim the program's second Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) postseason crown in as many years.
With this victory, the 'Jackets have once again received the conference's automatic bid and will return to the NCAA Tournament.
The NCAA aired its annual selection show Monday morning, and UW-Superior learned it will travel to the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College, as they take on UW-La Crosse in the first round. Also in the Gustavus Adolphus pod are UChicago, Luther College and Illinois Tech.
The Yellowjackets are led by
Andreina Tejada (Quito, Ecuador/Isaac Newton), who has garnered a 13-7 record at the top singles position.
Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale), slotted at the fifth singles position, has a 12-4 record. In doubles play, the 'Jackets are led by Tejada and
Claudia Curtis (Hartland, Wis./Lake Mills), who together have collected a record of 11-8, going 6-4 in their last 10 matches.
