Kate Jonas Selected to USTA Aspiring Coaches Program

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The United States Tennis Association (USTA), in collaboration with WeCOACH, selected 30 aspiring women coaches to participate in the initiative USTA Coaching Serving All: Aspiring Coaches powered by WeCOACH.

Among those 30 aspiring coaches was Yellowjacket senior tennis athlete Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale), who becomes the first UW-Superior tennis student-athlete to receive selection into the program.

The Aspiring Coaches powered by WeCOACH program is an 8-month leadership and tennis coaching development experience. It is designed to support collegiate women tennis players entering the tennis coaching profession, and provide aspiring coaches with practical tools, reflective learning opportunities and ongoing professional support. The program aligns with USTA Coaching's mission to educate and serve coaches to create inspiring tennis experiences for players of all levels.

Selected participants represent a diverse group of aspiring and emerging coaches from 18 states across the country who share a common commitment to grow the game of tennis and create meaningful experiences for players of all levels.

These future coaches will participate in a five-session virtual program and attend a landmark in-person leadership event held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. This is designed to provide education, support and professional networking needed to confidently pursue careers in coaching and help shape the future of tennis.
