MINNEAPOLIS – In the opening match of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action, the Yellowjacket women's soccer team blanked North Central on Wednesday, scoring three goals in the opening 45 which led to a 4-0 victory.
Match Notes
- At the 24th minute of play, Emma Wright (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) opened the scoring and buried it past the Rams goalkeeper.
- Eight minutes later, Abigail Naud (Moose Lake, Minn./Esko) logged her first collegiate goal, extending Superior's lead to 2-0.
- As halftime drew near, Lilly Breitkreutz (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) garnered her first goal as a Yellowjacket after receiving a feed from Naud.
- The final blow came from Reese Brekke (Stoughton, Wis./Hardin Valley), who fired the final goal for Superior to secure a 4-0 victory.
- Wright and Julia Lindow (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) each had four total shots, meanwhile Brekke and Breitkreutz led with five shots apiece from the bench.
- Baylee Nygard (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter) got the win in net, playing a full 90 minutes.
The 'Jackets have a quick turnaround as they host UW-River Falls Thursday. Action is set for 4 p.m. at SCCU Stadium.
