Men's Soccer Reruit: Connor Iverson

Men's Soccer Recruit Colton Iverson

Yellowjacket men's soccer coach Joe Mooney has added another recruit to his already formidable stable of newcomers, as Connor Iverson has informed him that he intends to become a Yellowjacket beginning in the fall.  Iverson brings Mooney's incoming class for next season up to ten.  All ten newcomers hail from Minnesota.

Iverson, a 6-0, 180 pound goalkeeper, played his high school soccer at Anoka High School.  A three-time All-Northwest Suburban Conference pick (2009, 2010, 2011), Iverson helped guide the Tornadoes to the Minnesotate State Tournament as a senior.  After posting a 0.86 goals against average in his senior season, Iverson received First Team All-State honors.

"I'm really excited to have Connor joining us in the fall.  We brought in one of the best goalkeepers in the area last year and now we've done it again this year," Mooney said.  "Because Connor played primarily as a field player up until high school, he is still relatively new to the position.

"He is very athletic and has had good coaching at the club and high school levels.  This means that he has tremendous upside for us.  There is a lot of potential there for us to unlock."

Iverson played his club soccer for the St. Paul Blackhawks.  A multi-sport athlete, Iverson also played hockey for the Tornadoes.

Iverson will graduate from Anoka with honors and plans to major in aquatic biology at UW-Superior.

"Between the biology classes and the soccer program UW-Superior was the right fit for me," Iverson said.  "I'm looking forward to getting up there, out on my own and playing soccer for the Yellowjackets."
