ST. PAUL, Minn. (April 24, 2018) – The Yellowjackets lost their first conference match this season, battling the Northwestern Eagles on the road.

Doubles

The no. 2 combination of Leonardo Paredes (Campinas, Brazil/Sao Paschoall) and Chad Hietala (Aurora, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) put up a good fight but fell by an 8-4 score, while the no. 1 pairing of Josiah Borst (Becker, Minn./Becker) and Will Sherman (Baton Rouge, La./St. Michael) fell by an 8-2 score.

Singles

Sherman and Harry Simpson (Derby, England/Derby Moor C.C.) both put up good matches in singles. Sherman won in his first match by a 6-3 score, but fell 2-6 in the second. He stormed back for a 10-4 tiebreaker win. Simpson was a force in his two sets, going 6-2 in both for another 'Jacket point.

Hietala forced a tiebreaker in his sets at no. 3. He won the first set 6-3, but couldn't find the second win at 4-6 and then 10-6.

The Yellowjackets will play another UMAC contest tomorrow as they travel to Owatonna for a noon match with Martin Luther.
