OWATONNA, Minn. (April 25, 2018) – The Yellowjacket men bounced back Wednesday afternoon, taking a solid win over the Martin Luther Knights.
Doubles
The Yellowjackets got off to a strong start, winning all three doubles matchups. Josiah Borst (Becker, Minn./Becker) and Will Sherman (Baton Rouge, La./St. Michael) at the no. 1 pairing went 8-4, while Leonardo Paredes (Campinas, Brazil/Sao Paschoall) and Chad Hietala (Aurora, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) also had an 8-4 vicotry at no. 2.
Grady Hauswirth (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) and Gavin Mangan (Henderson, Nev./Basic Academy) saw a little more pushback, but got the 8-6 victory.
Singles
The Yellowjackets had solid outings in singles completion, as Borst, Paredes, and Hietala won their matchups. Hauswirth had a comeback win against Josh Schroeder at no. 6, winning 7-5 in the first set, and then a 10-6 tiebreaker.
Head coach Kolin Dean said that it was good to get back on the winning track: "We came out and improved. We took care of business today."
The win pushes the Yellowjackets to the postseason, the first in program history.
