SUPERIOR, Wis. (April 30, 2018) – The Yellowjacket men's and women's tennis teams will be making their postseason debut Monday and Wednesday when they travel to Northwestern for a matchup with the Northwestern Eagles.
The UMAC has rolled out a new tournament format that will send both teams to Northwestern this week as the Yellowjackets secured the no. 3 seed on both the men's and women's sides. The new tournament style also allows for an automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Tennis Championships.
Both teams saw winning streaks this season, as the men won nine-straight games for a 10-6 record (5-2 UMAC) and then women won five straight for a 9-9 record (5-2 UMAC).
"We knew we could compete in the top-half of the UMAC." Head coach Kolin Dean said. "Being picked at no. 6 in the preseason really motivated us, and still motivates us moving into the posteason."
The Yellowjackets defied the odds this season as both teams were no. 6 in the preseason coaches' poll but improved on the season and finished at no. 3.
