WHEELING, W.Va. – The UW-Superior men's golf team shot 36-over-par 316 in the second round of the NCAA championship Wednesday to finish tied for 28th overall, missing the cut of the top 18 teams.
The Yellowjackets played the 6,621-yard, par-70 Palmer Course at Oglebay Resort Wednesday, shaving eight strokes off of their first-round team total to finish at 76-over 640 for the championship, tying with Husson.
Senior
Joey Cummings (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) charged up the leaderboard, jumping 81 places after firing a 1-under 69 to finish in a tie for 71st overall. He posted five birdies, four bogeys and nine pars to lead UWS on day two. Cummings finished 12-over 153 for the tournament.

Ryan Peterson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) began the day in the hunt for making the cut as an individual. He shot 78 in the second round with birdies on the par-5 eighth and 14th holes to go along with eight pars. Peterson ended his round one stroke out of a playoff for the final individual spot, shooting 10-over 151 for 48th place.
Freshman
Cody Stanisich (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) followed his 82 Tuesday with a second-round 85 with eight pars to finished tied for 157th for the championship
Junior
Sam Albrecht (Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) closed with a round of 84 to finish in a tie for 165th with 169 strokes. Albrecht birdied the par-4 10th hole and recorded five pars, including three on the back nine.
Junior
Jon Harstad (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) shot 87 for the second consecutive day for 174 to finish 176th overall. He birdied the par-5 second hole and tallied six pars.
