Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's tennis team hosted their only home match of the fall season on Saturday afternoon at the Yellowjacket Outdoor Tennis Complex, taking on Carleton College under gloomy, overcast skies with windy conditions. Despite their best efforts, the Yellowjackets fell to Carleton with a final score of 6-1.

Jacob Zacharias (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) secured the lone point for the Yellowjackets in a hard-fought match against Miles Lee. Zacharias won the first set 7-5 before Lee responded by taking the second set 6-1. The match came down to a decisive third set, which Zacharias claimed in a tiebreaker, winning 10-5. 

Match Notes

• At No. 1 doubles, Igor Guetten Chaves (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) and Sharan Kanugovi (Bangalore, Karnataka/New Baldwin International School) were defeated by their opponents, Jack Rivkin and Akshay Kanugovi, with a score of 6-1.
• Zacharias and Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) fell to Carleton's Zach Leslie and Baiyun Jing at No. 2 doubles, 7-5.
• Brandon Chu (Rogers, Minn./Rogers) and Blake Haugen (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont), competing at No. 3 doubles, faced Aiden Patel and Ezra Bernhard and were defeated with a score of 6-4.
• At No. 1 singles Guetten Chaves and Jing battled in a close one, taking the second set to a tiebreaker where Guetten Chaves would fall 9-7.
• Kanugovi and Jasper Yang took their match at No. 2 singles to three sets. Yang took the first set 7-6 taking the tiebreaker 7-2 while Kanugovi took the second set 6-2. Yang would take the third set that was determined by another tiebreaker, 10-5.
• At No. 3 singles, Aiden Patel swept Yash Chhabra (Jaipur, Rajasthan/Sanskar School) in two sets, 6-1 and 6-4.
• Abarca Pino, competing at No. 4 singles, fought hard against Ezra Bernhard but ultimately lost in straight sets, with scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
• Chu would drop straight sets with Leslie 6-0 and 6-1.

The Yellowjackets will be back in action this weekend, facing UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Green Island Tennis Courts. The first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
