SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Yellowjacket men's tennis team commenced round two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The only two Yellowjackets who saw action today was
Igor Guetten Chaves (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) and
Sharan Kanugovi (Bangalore, Karnataka/New Baldwin International School), advancing in their singles matches after grabbing victories from Friday's matchup.
Guetten Chaves, who became the first Yellowjacket in program history to make the round of 32 singles, faced off against Drew Van Fossen of UW-Whitewater. Van Fossen came out of the match with a victory, coming in 7-6 and 6-3 decisions.
Kanugovi had a matchup against Juan Hernandez from the Luther Norse in his round of 64 match. Kanugovi came out on top in the first game with a score of 6-4 before falling 6-4 to Hernandez. In the playoff, Hernandez emerged on top with a 10-6 win.
The Yellowjackets are set to return home Saturday as they play host to Carleton.
