SAINT PAUL, Minn. – UW-Superior received two spots on the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) weekly award list Tuesday morning, as
Savanna Hering (Superior, Wis./Superior) from the Yellowjacket volleyball team and
Maverick Hoogland (Catawba, Wis./Phillips) from the Yellowjacket men's cross country team were honored.
Hering continued to lead the Yellowjackets defensively this past week. She logged 21 digs against St. Scholastica before facing off against Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther this past weekend. She tied her career-high of 29 digs versus the Vikings while adding 14 more against Martin Luther, leading to a 2-0 weekend in UMAC play.
Hoogland led the Yellowjackets at this weekend's Blugold Invite, hosted by UW-Eau Claire. His mark of 27:00.1 not only led his teammates and the entire UMAC but also established a new 8k personal record, as well.
The Yellowjacket volleyball team is back in action Friday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Crown. The opening serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Wild Athletic Center.
The Yellowjacket men's cross country team have one final tune-up before the UMAC Championship, traveling to Rock Island, Ill. They will compete in the Augustana Interregional Invitational, which will begin at 11 a.m.
