GULF SHORES, Ala. – The trip to Alabama has been a good one for the Yellowjacket women's tennis team.
Â
On a pretty good roll before heading south, the Yellowjackets won their first three matches of the trip, but their stiffest test waited for the end of the trip, as the Yellowjackets took on St. Thomas out of Texas.
Each team came into Friday having swept their previous matches, and each team was riding a winning streak. It was St. Thomas, however, that would see its streak continue. The Celts took the doubles point and then collected wins in the top four singles slots on the way to a 5-2 win over the Yellowjackets at the Gulf Shores Tennis Complex.
Â
The Yellowjackets, who are now 11-4 overall, finish their trip in Alabama 3-1.
Â
Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and
Brooke Wilfong (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) were the lone Yellowjacket doubles duo to earn a victory, beating St. Thomas' Hannah Snyder and Karissa Guzman by a 6-2 score in the No. 3 slot. Jonas was also victorious in her singles match, besting Snyder at No. 6.
