RIPON, Wis. (March 23, 2018) – Superior showed their stuff once again Friday night, taking a solid road victory over the Ripon Red Hawks.
Doubles
The Yellowjackets took care of business in their doubles matches; Josiah Borst (Becker, Minn./Becker) and Will Sherman (Baton Rouge, La./St. Michael) defeated the Red Hawks' no. 1 duo with an 8-2 victory, while the other two doubles positions won 8-1 and 8-0.
Singles
Clayton Tanner (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) had the most pushback in his singles win, beating Chris Mooney by a score of 6-2 6-1. The easiest paths to victory came to Chad Hietala (Aurora, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) and Harry Simpson (Derby, England/Derby Moor C.C.) in the no. 2 and no. 4 positions, beating their opponents 6-0 6-0. The Red Hawks couldn't produce a player for the no. 6 position, so the final victory of the day came via forfeit.
Head coach Kolin Dean noticed a groove in today's match, "We played some really solid tennis today, we're starting to find our groove, and I'm proud of my guys for taking care of business."
