ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's tennis team has been chosen second in the 2022 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference preseason poll, the league announced on Tuesday.
The Yellowjackets received 14 points and two first-place votes to finish one point behind Northwestern for the top spot. The Eagles claimed the other three first-place nods.
The second-place finish is the highest UWS has been picked to finish in the five-year history of the program.

Michael Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy),
Andre Luiz de Melo Guedes (Brasilia, Brazil/Centro de Ensino Médio Paulo Freire),
Gergo Potz Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/Veres Pálné Secondary Grammar School) and
Jacob Zacharias (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti).
All four of the all-conference players won at least nine singles matches each with Potz Nagy going 11-3 to set the school record for singles victories in a season.
Bethany Lutheran was picked third in the poll with nine points, while Martin Luther and Minnesota Morris tied for fourth with six points.
UWS, which opens the season Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m., against Macalester, returns nine players and welcomes five newcomers for the 2022 season after tying a program-record with 10 dual-match victories last spring.
