SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior men's track and field team won three individual events and a relay at the Maday Classic at Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Seniors
Derrick Moe (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior) and
Tyler Finger (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) won the 5,000- meter and 1,000-meter runs, while sophomore
Earl Foster (Forest Lake, Minn./Spectrum) took the 60-meter hurdles. The 4x200-meter relay team of freshman
Iain Matheson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), junior
Steven Pearson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), freshman
Will Schorr (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and sophomore
Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona) also won that event.

Moe took the 5,000 in 15:47.75 and Finger clocked 2:40.29 in the 1,000. Foster ran 9.03 in the 60 hurdles and the relay squad posted 1:35.80.

Another strong performance came from freshman
Gage Stankiewicz (Esko, Minn./Esko) who was the top NCAA competitor in both the shot put and weight throw, placing second in each. He threw 15.50 meters in the shot put and 14.58 meters in the weight throw.Â

Sophomore
David Collins (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright) also finished third in the mile run in 4:50.61.

It was an emotional day as the Yellowjackets honored the life and memory of UWS alumnus and assistant coach Sam Maday, who passed away suddenly in December, officially renaming the Yellowjacket Open the Maday Classic with a brief pre-meet ceremony.

Superior returns to action Friday at the Maverick Invitational at Minnesota State's Myers Field House at 3 p.m.
