SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior women's track and field team won a pair of events at the Maday Classic at Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Senior
Nicole Koski (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon) took the 5,000-meter run in 20:21.84 while junior
Jess Newman (Wanamingo, Minn./Pine Island) claimed the 200-meter hurdles in 36.90.

Freshman
Kenzy Kreuzer (Stoddard, Wis./De Soto) was second in the 200 hurdles in 37.40, as well.Â

Additional strong showings came from sophomore
Jeanna Scanlon (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon) in the 3,000-meter run where she finished second in 12:54.36, and junior
Alexxa DeQuevedo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley), who was second in the long jump. DeQuevedo posted a distance of 4.47 meters.

Kasha Hughlett (Maple, Wis./Northwestern) was second in the weight throw with a mark of 14.45 meters.

It was an emotional day as the Yellowjackets honored the life and memory of UWS alumnus and assistant coach Sam Maday, who passed away suddenly in December, officially renaming the Yellowjacket Open the Maday Classic with a brief pre-meet ceremony.

Superior returns to action Friday at the Maverick Invitational at Minnesota State's Myers Field House at 3 p.m.
