ATLANTA, Ga. – After a successful indoor track and field season, one that saw the team win its sixth-straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championship, the Yellowjacket men's track and field team took advantage of spring break week to head to warmer climes and open the outdoor season.

A portion of the Yellowjacket men's track and field team got the outdoor season underway Friday, competing at the Emory University Spring Break Classic.

Among the top competitors for the Yellowjackets Friday was senior
Tyler Finger (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville). The native of Clintonville, Wis. finished in 13th place in the 1,500-meter run, coming in with a time of 4:04.08.

Kei Okamoto (Nagoya, Japan/Reitaku Mizunami) set a personal record in the 10,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 37:35.97.
Kieran Johnson (South Range, Wis./Northwestern) also set a personal record Friday, finishing with a time of 17:15.89 in the 5,000 meters.

In the field events,
Nate Ohman (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) earned the highest finish on the day for the Yellowjackets, placing sixth in the hammer throw with a heave of 41.34 meters. Fresh off an appearance at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, freshman
Gage Stankiewicz (Esko, Minn./Esko) placed 13th in the hammer with a throw of 30.26 meters.

Will Schorr (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) earned a top-20 finish in the long jump, hitting a mark of 5.57 meters, a personal record.
