LA CROSSE, Wis. --Â The UW-Superior men's track and field team competed in the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse's Veterans Memorial Sports Complex on Saturday, finishing 10th overall with 19 points.

Freshman
Michael Butterfield (Bovey, Minn./Greenway) placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:58.03. Butterfield's time gave him one of the Yellowjackets' three top-10 finishes in individual events on the day. The others came from classmate
Gage Stankiewicz (Esko, Minn./Esko), who was sixth overall in the shot put with a mark of 15.11 meters, and senior
Connor Nelson (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) (17:48.30), who was 10th in the 5,000 with Butterfield.

Senior
Tyler Finger (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) ran to a 15th-place finish in the in the 1,500 meters in 4:08.89, as well.Â

Jared Jaczak finished 14th in the javelin with a mark of 41.32 meters, while
Tanner Lee (Siren, Wis./Siren) finished 16th in the hammer throw at 45.26 meters.

Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona) was 20th in the 200 meters in a time of 24.42.

Freshman
Will Schorr (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) placed 21st overall in the long jump with a distance of 6.09 meters.

The 4x100-meter relay squad of
Steven Pearson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), Schorr,
Iain Matheson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and Westimayer finished ninth in that race in 46.96.

The Yellowjackets are back in action next Saturday at Macalester's Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational beginning at 9 a.m.
