SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), on the heels of its 2023 outdoor track and field championships, has announced its post-season award winners in women's track and field, and seven Yellowjackets have received All-UMAC recognition.

All-UMAC honors are given to the top two finishers in all individual events and all members of winning relay teams at the championships.

The Yellowjackets won their first individual conference championships of the weekend Friday.
Alexxa DeQuevedo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley) won the title in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 1:11.18. DeQuevedo also had top-five finishes in the 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, long jump and javelin. In total, DeQuevedo contributed 39 points to the Yellowjacket total.

Senior thrower
Kasha Hughlett (Maple, Wis./Northwestern) won the conference championship in her strongest event, the hammer throw. Hughlett won with a mark of 46.91 meters, more than a full meter ahead of the runner up. Hughlett previously finished as the runner up in the hammer throw on two occasions before this year's title. She also finished in the top ten in the discus and shot put.

Halle Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) earned All-UMAC recognition by winning the 5,000-meter run. Barker crossed the line with a time of 19:21.42, a full 40 seconds ahead of the race's runner up.

Also earned All-UMAC recognition was
Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool), who placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.70 seconds. She also placed in the top five in the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter dash.
Brooke Petrich (Keewatin, Minn./Greenway), meanwhile, was named All-UMAC after placing second in the pole vault, clearing the bar at a height of 2.55 meters.
The Yellowjacket 4-x-100-meter relay team, consisting of DeQuevedo,
Cora Schmitz (Luck, Wis./Unity), Claude and
Catie McPherson (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) placed second in the championships, coming in with a time of 52.92 seconds.

Myla Volk (Wabeno, Wis./Wabeno) was the UW-Superior representative on the UMAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Yellowjackets placed second at the 2023 UMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, earning a total of 179 points. The total put them just nine points behind conference champion Martin Luther.

Next up for the Yellowjackets is the last chance meet hosted by UW-La Crosse. The Eagle Open will have events begin at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, May 12.
