BECKER, Minn. – The Yellowjacket men's golf team returned to play Thursday, taking part in the annual Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Preview. Throughout the day the 'Jackets looked strong and ultimately ended first on the team leaderboard, but they'd have to settle with a share as Northwestern also finished with a collective score of 300.
In the playoff hole between Jakob Swanson and
Matthew Unger (New Richmond, Wis./New Richmond), Swanson sunk a putt to claim medalist honors.
Tournament Notes
- Unger paced the 'Jackets on the day, logging a 38 on the front nine before shaving four strokes while carding three birdies and five pars for a 72.
- Placing third individually was Andrew Rude (Superior, Wis./Superior), finishing one-under on two holes and capping his day with a 73.
- Blu Anderson (Amery, Wis./Amery) garnered a five-over 77, logging a birdie on each nine for a 38/39 split.
- Finishing six over was Trevor Durfee (Superior, Wis./Superior), serving as Superior's fourth finisher with a 78.
- Andrew Slatten (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) garnered a round of 80 under his belt, shooting eight over on the day.
- The Yellowjacket duo of August Lang (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) and JD Glampe (Green Bay, Wis./Luxemburg Casco) competed as individuals. Lang carded a 76 while Glampe finished his day with an 84.
The Yellowjackets head south to partake in the Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational, hosted by UW-Eau Claire. The two-day event is set to begin Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.
