SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's golf team left Nemadji Golf Course in first place after Saturday's opening round of the Twin Ports Collegiate. Leaving the course on Sunday, the 'Jackets were victorious after shooting a 300 for a two-day total of 599.
Leading the way for the Yellowjackets was
Andrew Slatten (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing), who climbed two spots on the individual leaderboard and finished two-under to claim medalist honors. He is the second Hibbing, Minnesota native to win the Twin Ports Collegiate, as
Conner Willard (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) came away with medalist honors in last year's event.
Tournament Notes
- Slatten garnered 14 pars on the day and three birdies. He shot an even front nine of 36 before adding a pair of birdies on the back nine to end with a 70.
- Andrew Rude (Superior, Wis./Superior) followed shooting a three-over 75 on the day, logging a pair of birdies on the day. He maintained his seventh place ranking individually.
- Matthew Unger (New Richmond, Wis./New Richmond) climbed eight spots on the day after shooting a 37/38 split, ending with a 75.
- Blu Anderson (Amery, Wis./Amery) wrapped up his Sunday with a 45 on the front nine before shaving 10 strokes on the back to finish with a round two total of 80.
- Dillon Scheufeli (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) capped the A team with a 41/42 for an 83.
- Superior's second team maintained sixth place. They were led by Trevor Durfee (Superior, Wis./Superior) and JD Glampe (Green Bay, Wis./Luxemburg Casco), who shot a 73 and 75, respectively. Durfee climbed to fifth place in the individual rankings.
- August Lang (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) followed with a 79, logging four birdies on the front nine. Sam Brennan (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) came next with an 81 after shooting a 40/41 split.
- Caden Knutson (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins) followed with an 87.
- Cole Moore (Little Rock, Ark./Sabetha) led off the Yellowjackets' third team with an 82 before Seth Pettingill (Superior, Wis./Superior), Carson Riddle (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) and Zach Lussier (Brossard, Quebec/College Charles-Lemoyne) each shot an 83. Pettingill, Riddle, and Lussier all birdied the par-four 15th.
- Jamin Durfee (Superior, Wis./Superior) rounded out the team with a 48/41 split for an 89.
- Kobe Grant (Vernon, British Columbia/South Kamloops Secondary), the lone Yellowjacket individual, capped his Sunday with an 86, featuring an eagle on the par-five 13th.
The Yellowjackets are back in action Thursday as they enter the UMAC Preview. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn.
