SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's track and field team hosted the Fifth Annual Maday Classic Saturday, hosting various NCAA Division II and III institutions from around the region. Superior had a strong showing, and leading the charge was freshman sensation

Meet Notes
- Peterson set a new personal record in the 60-meter dash with a 7.30 second-mark in the prelims. He later took part in the 200-meter hurdles and set a time of 24.86 seconds, which stands as a new facility, meet and school record.
- Maverick Hoogland (Catawba, Wis./Phillips) took home medalist honors in the 5,000-meter race, setting a new personal-record at 15:51.65.
- The Yellowjacket trio of Jesse Ortiz (Medford, Minn./Medford), Ethan Bowe (Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser) and Logan Ulate (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash, collecting times of 7.14, 7.15 and 7.28 seconds, respectively.
- Braden Niessen (Rush City, Minn./Rush City) took fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles, setting a new high-water mark at 9.16 seconds for fourth place.
- A 30.65-second finish for Gus Schmitt-Mischke (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) was good for a personal record in the 200-meter dash.
- Season-bests were set in the 800-meter race, as Deryck Parduhn (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Kevin Hufziger (Macedon, N.Y./Penfield) crossed the line at 2:14.40 and 2:23.89, respectively.
- Dylan Uitto (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) took second in the mile with a 4:29.19.
- Chance Davis (Superior, Wis./Superior) was the top Yellowjacket in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.80 meters.
- Both Jason Thomas (Superior, Wis./Superior) and Jackson Fiamoncini (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) took home season-bests in the pole vault, leaping to 4.21 and 3.91 meters, respectively.
- Carson Wilhorn (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) led in the shot put and weight throw, taking home a shot put heave of 13.70 meters for fourth after ranking second in the weight throw at 17.22 meters.
- In total, there were 6 PR's and 5 season-bests set inside the Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse.

Superior will have one final tune-up before the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships in two weeks. First, they will partake in the Snowshoe Open hosted by the University of Minnesota. Action will take place inside the Minnesota Fieldhouse on Friday.
