SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Wednesday the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) released its 2026 preseason preview for women's tennis, and the Yellowjackets were favored to capture this year's north division championship for the second time in as many years.
The Yellowjackets, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time last season, received 25 points and five-of-six first place nods among the head coaches across the UMAC. Northwestern garnered 21 points and the sixth first-place vote in second place, while Minnesota Morris finished third with 15 points.
Superior returns three Yellowjackets with previous postseason plaudits, including senior
Andreina Tejada (Quito, Ecuador/Isaac Newton) and the sophomore duo of
Anouk Bluemm (Nuremberg, Germany/Wilhelm-Loege Gymnasium) and
Elif Oezen (Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, Germany/Einstein Gymnasium). Tejada logged a singles record of 7-5 while adding three doubles wins last season. Bluemm rattled off eight wins in singles play and five more in doubles action, while Oezen logged a singles record of 16-10 with a 9-7 mark in doubles play.
The poll was rounded out by Martin Luther (12 points) in fourth place, followed by Bethany Lutheran and Crown with 10 and seven points, respectively.
The 'Jackets, who finished the fall schedule with a record of 5-2, begin the spring portion of the campaign Saturday, Feb. 14 against Concordia (Minn.). The opening serve is set for 12 p.m. inside the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
