Men's Soccer Recruit: Peter Correll

Men's Soccer Recruit Peter Correll (in white)

The Yellowjacket men's soccer program has added still another recruit for 2012-13, as Peter Correll has made his committment to head coach Joe Mooney to attend UW-Superior beginning this fall.

Correll, who hails from Red Wing, Minn., has been a star scorer at Red Wing High School.  Correll will graduate this spring and leave as the school's all-time leading goal scorer.  A team captain in his senior year, the 6-1, 170-pound midfielder was a First Team All-Missota Conference selection in 2011.  Correll patrolled the middle of the field for Red Wing, and that will continue in his time with the Yellowjackets.

"I think that Peter is someone that flew under the radar.  Red Wing's soccer program is still pretty new and so I don't think that many people knew about Peter early on.  I am very confident that will change once he's with us.  Peter has a lot of skill and will be a great player at UWS," Mooney said.  "He is particularly dangerous going forward with the ball.  He's lively on the ball and has the ability to finish quickly and from a distance.  His size will help him in our conference as well."

In addition to Red Wing High School, Correll has also played club soccer with the Euro Soccer Club.

"UW-Superior is a good fit for me academically and I'm excited to be a part of the up-and-coming soccer program," Correll said on his decision to become a Yellowjacket.
