Last Week's Highlights
- The women's basketball team picked up a one-sided victory over bridge rival the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon, led by Duluth native and freshman forward Eva Reinertsen (Duluth, Minn./Homeschooled) who notched 19 points for the Yellowjackets.
- The women's hockey team played four games in five days, picking up a series sweep of Finlandia University over the weekend.

Men's Basketball (2-12, 1-5 UMAC)
- The University of Wisconsin Superior returned to Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play last weekend, falling 83-65 to St. Scholastica in the first bridge battle of the season. Junior Shaq Coleman (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East H.S.) led the Yellowjackets with 15 points while freshman Rafael Monteiro (São Paulo, Brazil/Santa Marcelina College) grabbed another double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. UWS will begin a four-game homestand this weekend welcoming the University of Minnesota-Morris and Crown College to town. UM-Morris has lost 2-of-3 but is 8-5 on the season and 4-2 in the UMAC this season. Junior guard C.D. Douglas leads the Cougars averaging 20.4 points on the season. UM-Morris knocked the Yellowjackets out of the UMAC Tournament last season, defeating UWS 83-80 on Feb. 22, 2016. Crown is just 3-10 on the season but 2-4 in the conference. The Storm is led by freshman forward Timothy Wendel, averaging 18.2 points on the year. The Yellowjackets defeated Crown last time out, 95-81 at Mortorelli Gym on Feb. 5,  2016.

Women's Basketball (10-4, 6-0 UMAC)
- After its winning streak was snapped at eight games, UW-Superior has now won nine of its last ten games and will look to start a new streak as it hosts the  next four at Mortorelli Gym. UWS will host UM-Morris and Crown this weekend, with the Cougars and Yellowjackets set to meet in the UMAC Game of the Week on Friday evening, each sitting at 6-0 atop the conference standings. At 9-4, UM-Morris has won nine straight entering the weekend while being led by sophomore forward Kendra Raths scoring 12.5 points per game. UWS defeated the Cougars 71-51 in their last meeting on Feb. 6, 2016. Crown sits on the other side of the conference standings at 0-14 overall and 0-6 in league play. Sophomore Hannah Malone is averaging 10.5 points per game for the Storm. The Yellowjackets defeated Crown 86-47 in their last meeting on Feb. 5, 2016.

Men's Hockey (4-11-1, 0-2-0 WIAC)
- UW-Superior suffered a pair of one-goal setbacks this past weekend, falling to Concordia College (R.V.) by a 3-2 final and Saint John's University by a 1-0 score. Junior goalie Kyle Miller (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake H.S.) has continued to impress in his first three outings for UWS, but the Yellowjackets will try to get their offense kick-started again as they welcome Gustavus Adolphus College and Bethel University to Wessman Arena to start a three-game homestand. The Gusties enter the weekend at 1-8-4 on the season, with Duluth native Jake Bushey leading the way with 11 points (two goals, nine assists). UWS defeated Gustavus 2-1 last season on Friday, Jan. 15 in St. Peter, Minnesota. Bethel is winless in nine straight games, sitting at 1-10-2 on the season. Sophomore Dallas Marvin has 10 points and six goals on the season to lead the Royals. Bethel defeated the Yellowjackets 6-2 last season when the teams met in Blaine, Minnesota on Jan. 16, 2016.

Women's Hockey (7-8-0, 1-2-0 WIAC)
- After a victory over the University of St. Thomas earlier this season at Wessman Arena, UW-Superior fell 3-1 in the rematch on Tuesday night. Over the weekend, junior Mikayla Goodin (Andover, Minn./Andover H.S.) scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season and now has 14 points for the Yellowjackets. UWS will match up against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night. The Pointers are 4-1-1 in their last six to move to 6-4-2 on the season and 1-1-0 in WIAC play. Sophomore Cara Lemirande leads UWSP with 11 points and seven goals on the year. The Pointers defeated the Yellowjackets 2-1 in the first game action of the season for the WIAC rivals back on Nov. 19.

Men's and Women's Track & Field
- The wait is finally over for UW-Superior track & field athletes as the two teams will return to action this weekend at Bemidji State University's Super 8 Invitational. Last time out, the Yellowjackets raked in the accolades while appearing at the season-opening meet hosted by St. Scholastica in Duluth. Freshman Spencer Sutton (Minocqua, Wis./Lakeland Union H.S.) and sophomore C.J. Pillath (Coleman, Wis./Coleman H.S.) helped the UWS men sweep the UMAC men's track & field athlete of the week honors, respecitvely. On the women's side, sophomore Taylor Phillips (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) earned the title of women's field athlete of the week in the UMAC as well.
