University of Wisconsin-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame
Alice (Loebsack) Brecht is the recipient of the Dr. Lydia Thering Meritorious Service Award. Brecht competed in cross country and track and field while at UW-Superior, graduating in 2004. During this time, she furthered her plans to become an athletic trainer under David Kroll, a fellow Hall of Famer. Brecht furthered her education at San Jose State University and shortly received her first athletic training position at Vanguard University in 2007.
After a stop at Pacific Lutheran for the same role, Brecht became the assistant athletic director of sports medicine and wellness at Saint Martin's University in 2012. Eight years into this position, she was called upon to research, develop, and facilitate all policies related to COVID-19. Through her countless hours of research and work at the institution and conference levels, Brecht led the way to ensure the Saints returned to campus safely.
At the time of her induction, Brecht currently teaches health science and serves as an athletic trainer at Wenatchee High School in Wenatchee, Washington, a position she's held since 2022.
